New World
New World
In creating New World, I sought to explore the vastness of the universe through multiple perspectives, inspired by childhood memories of stargazing. As a child, I was captivated by the night sky—the endless twinkling stars, the sense of mystery, and the realization that there was so much beyond my understanding. This sense of wonder has stayed with me, shaping my artistic vision and fueling my desire to create a body of work that captures the essence of that vastness.
The images from the Hubble Telescope played a significant role in this exploration. They brought the distant, the unknowable, closer and revealed a beauty that was both intricate and infinite. These images inspired me not to replicate what I saw, but to evoke the feeling of space—the swirling colors, the textures, the layers. I wanted to convey the essence of the universe, a place filled with mystery, rather than a literal depiction.
New World is about presenting the universe as a mystery, something that invites curiosity and contemplation. By using multiple perspectives, I wanted to challenge the viewer’s perception. Is this a landscape or a nebula? A distant island or a point in deep space? This ambiguity is central to the work. It allows for interpretation and invites the viewer to engage with the image, to question what they see, and perhaps, to feel that same sense of wonder I experienced as a child looking up at the stars.
Ultimately, New World is not just about the vastness of space; it’s about the experience of encountering something beyond our comprehension and finding beauty in the mystery of it all. Each piece is a reflection of the infinite possibilities of what lies beyond our reach and the questions that continue to arise as we look into the unknown.
