Indigo Dreaming

Indigo Dreaming

When painting, artists mix and manipulate colors, their hue, intensity and value.  As colors are mixed, their characteristics are also modified. A controlled process, figuring out the amount of each color in the mixture, artists take for granted those moments of surprise when something unexpectable happens as colors mix freely, bringing into picture a new and unique color.

Indigo Dreaming is an attempt to allow colors to interact freely with each other. The main hue in this series is the various shades and intensity of blues. For each painting, a secondary hue is also selected randomly—with an understanding that there is variety in any given hue.

The element of control is eliminated after this initial selection—allowing colorful fluids run into each other forming new colors. Each beautiful, unique and intriguing in its own right. Combined with other elements, contributing to a painting that is cohesive and aesthetically pleasing.

Just as in life, when respectful interaction and interconnection of races and cultures results in a more cohesive and nurturing human community. Interactions which create new and a uniqueness that is without prejudice, honoring all instead of just one.
